HONIKIWI PROPOSAL
SUPPORTED BY OTOROHANGA COUNTY COUNCIL Cr H. C. Grierson, on behalf of the Honikiwi Memorial Hall Committee, asked Otorohanga County councillors at their meeting on Wednesday if support could be given to the committee’s application to the Internal Affairs Department for approval of their proposed memorial scheme. “All such proposals have to be submitted to Wellington for approval,” said Cr Grierson. The Memorial Hall, estimated to cost £2000,. if approved, would be subsidised to the extent of £lOOO, and the land and building would be vested in the county of Otorohanga. The council approved of the provision of a hall at Honikiwi as a War Memorial, and agreed to its vestment in the Otorohanga County, should the proposed scheme receive the approval of the Department of Internal Affairs. The Riding member (Cr Grierson), and the county clerk (Mr M. P. GoldsLro’), were'authorised to take steps to have the project furthered.
