PATERANGI BRIDGE

QUESTION OF MAINTENANCE FURTHER ENQUIRIES TO BE MADE Following on the receipt of an account from the Waipa County Council, for half of the cost of doing certain repair work to the Paterangi bridge, the Works Committee recommended that 'further enquiries be made as to the council’s liability in respect to the bridge, and the recommendation was adopted.

The Mayor said that the borough boundary was on one side of the bridge, and the Waipa County boundary on the other, while the stream itself was under the control of the Drainage board. Apparently some years ago an agreement had been made as to maintenance cost being borne by the two local bodies, but the town clerk (Mr Millar), had expressed himself as to being doubtful as to the position, hence, the recommendation of the Works Committee.
