HAMILTON STOCK SALE The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company Limited reports as follows on the firrrt’s weekly stock sale, held in the Frankton sale yards on Tuesday:— Sheep: The demand for a large yarding of fat wethers was not so keen as last week, and prices showed a decided drop. Fat ewes were slightly easier, but a small number of spring lambs met a very ready sale. Heavy woolly wethers made 68s to 71s 6d, lighter 63s to 665, heavy shorn wethers 56s to 58s 6d, prime 52s to 545, medium 48s to 50s, light 44s to 465, heavy fat ewes 29s to 31s 9d, medium 25s to 275, light 21s to 235, spring lambs 44s 9d to 46s 6d. Cattle: Ox beef was in larger supply than usual, and the quality generally was good; the market remained firm, and values showed little alteration from the recent high levels. An average entry of cow and heifer beef was mostly of the lighterweight class; the demand was again keen, and values were fully firm,: Heavy prime bullocks made £2B to £3l 10s. medium £25 to £27 lighter £2l to £24, small and plain £lB 10s to £l9 15s, heavy fat cows £l7 5s to £l9, medium £l5 7s 6d to £l6 10s, medium prime heifers £l7 16s to £lB 12s 6d, light £l4 12s 6d to £l6 ss, small and plain £l3 5s to £l4 2s 6d. Pip’S: An increased yarding of fats and stores was penned; baconers and porkers were in keen demand, and prices remained firm; stores and weaners were also keenly sought, a good sale resulting. Heavy choppers made £8 to £lO 10s, others £3 to £7 ss, prime heavy baconers £6 15s to £6 17s, heavy £6 10s to £6 13s, medium £6 to £6 Bs, light £5 10s to £5 16s, norkers and butter-milk pigs £4 10s to £5 13s, good-quality large stores £3 15s to £4 7s, large stores £3 8s to £3 12s, smaller £2 16s to £3 3s, slips £2 5s to £2 12s, weaners £1 to £2 2s, sows in farrow £4 10s to £7 ss. •
TE AWAMUTU STOCK SALE
Messrs G. W. Vercoe report on having- held their tri-weekly sale at Te Awamutu where the advertised entry came forward and sold readily at recent rates. A medium yarding of fat sheep was penned and sold readily, fat hoggets selling up to £2 9s 6d. A good yarding of quality store hoggets came forward and met with keen competition. There was a heavy yarding of cattle all of which sold readily at current rates. There was a comparatively light yarding of dairy heifers and cows all of which met with keen competition. A' good yarding of fat pigs and a medium yarding of store pigs all sold at recent quotations. Sheep: Woolly hoggets up to 50s 6d, fat ewes up to 38s, store woolly ewe hoggets 38s 6d to 45s 9d, store shorn ewe hoggets 33s 6d to 355, store shorn wether hoggets 32s to 35s 3d, store 4-tooth wethers to 38s 6d. Cattle: Fat Jersey heifers £ll to £ll 10s, fat Jersey cows £lO to £ll ss, heavy Jersey cows £8 15s to £9 10s, medium Jersey cows £6 10s to £8 12s 6d, others £4 10s to £6 ss. Dairies: Jersey heifers close to profit £l4 to £l5 10s, good Jersey heifers in milk £l4 5s to £l5 10s, Jersey cows in milk £l2 5s to £l4. Store cattle: 3-year PA. steers forward to £l4 2s 6d, 2-year Shorthorn Ayrshire steers £6 5s to £8 19s, choice Jersey grade bulls £lB 10s to £26, other Jersey grade bulls £lO 10s to £l6 15s. Pigs: Prime heavy bacon £6 13s to £6 17s, medium bacon £5 15s to £6 9s, heavy pork £4 15s to £5 ss, best stores £3 15s to £4 7s, best slips to £3 3s, best weaners to £2 ss, maiden sows to farrow £7 ss. Boners and yearling Jersey heifers were in good supply, and remained firm at late rates. Heavy bullocks made £2B to £29 10s, medium £27 to £27 12s 6d, light-weight £24 to £26 12s 6d„ fat heifers £l6 to £lB, heavy fat Shorthorn heifers £l5 to £l6 12s 6d, heavy fat Jersey cows £l2 to £l5 ss, others £lO to £ll 10s, heavy boners £7 to £9 others £5 10s to £6 12s 6d. Dairy Cattle: Fewer were yarded in the dairy pens, and prices showed an easing tendency: Good-quality Jersey heifers close to profit £l5 10s to £l7, smaller sorts £l2 to £l4 10s, springing Jersey cows £l3 10s to £l7 15s, calved Jersey heifers £l5 10s to £l7 15s, calved Jersey cows £lO to £l3. Pigs: A large entry of fats and stores came forward. Baconers were in keen demand and sold equal to rates at the central yards; stores also sold readily, and there was a total clearance in both sections.
