THEFT OF PARCELS

WOMAN CONVICTED OFFENCE AT OWAIRAKA VALLEY Joyce Strongman entered a plea of guilty when charged before Mr S- L. Paterson, S.M., at Te Awamutu yesterday with the theft of parcels of groceries valued at 15s 4d, the property of a resident of Owairaka Valley. Sergeant A. Bisset stated that the owner of the groceries lived about three quarters of a mile from the roadway and the parcels were left in a box on the roadway. When the owner went to collect them she found that some bread, together with other articles, was The defendant was later interviewed and she gave a good deal of trouble and was also cunning. The defendant was single and it was apparent that she was not very strong. When asked, the defendant had nothing to say. The magistrate entered a conviction and placed her on probation for one year. An order for the restitution of the goods not used was also made.
