State Housing Allocations
Up to the end of August of this year, ex-servicemen have received tenancies of 8989 State rental houses and flats, states the Department of Rehabilitation. The districts and the allocations made are:— Auckland: North Auckland, 2603; Waikato-Bay of Plenty, 702; Hawke’s Bay-Poverty Bay, 415; Taranaki, 259; Wellington, including Wanganui, Manawatu and Wairarapa, 3136; Nelson-Marlbor-ough-West Coast, 223; Canterbury Province, 972; Otago Province, 486; Southland, 193. This indicates that Auckland, Wellington and the Waikato are getting a good share of the allocations, which are made on the basis of urgency.
