Mr and Mrs Russell of Helensville, are visiting Pokuru, where they are the guests of Mr and Mrs E. H. Melville.
Mrs G Finn, of Brady Street, is at present on a short visit to Dunedin. Mrs Finn journeyed to the southern city by air and is expected to return by similar means on Sunday.
Mr H. R. Clarke of Pokuru has been appointed one of the judges at the Cambridge A and P Association Show to be held next year. Mr Clarke will judge the calf section.
The appointment of Mr Arthur James Bannister as Deputy-Regis-trar of Births,. Deaths and Marriages and Deputy-Registrar of Maori Births and Deaths for the district of Otorohanga is gazetted. Lance Corporals R. M. Cleave (Te Awamutu), and A. E. Gardner (Pukeatua) are among the 31 Waikato J Force personnel, who are expected to arrive at Auckland in the transport Westralia on Monday.
Traffic Inspector S. Hanna, who has been stationed at Te Kuiti for several years past has received notice of his transfer to Cambridge. Inspector Fletcher of Cambridge has been transferred to Mt Roskill (Auckland) while Inspector K. Gray of Mt Roskill will go to Te Kuiti.
At the recent Royal School of Music examinations held at Hamilton, Heather McGarvick of Waikeria, passed in Grade IV (violin) with credit. She is a pupil of Mrs John Sterritt. This gifted little violinist will go far in the violin world. Her parents are now residing in Auckland where she will further her studies under Felix Millar.
