TE AWAMUTU STOCK SALE The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company Limited reports as follows on the firm’s sale held at Te Awamutu on Thursday:— Sheep: An average supply of fat sheep included fat wethers and hoggets; valpes were firm at recent late quotations. Prime woolly wethers sold to 655, prime shorn 47s 6d to 525, prime fat hoggets 50s to 535, medium 40s to 47s 6d, fat ewes to 40s, store woolly hoggets 38s 3d to 40s, store shorn wethers to 34s 6d, cull ewes and lambs 16s 6d. Cattle: A good entry of ox beef again met a ready demand, selling at last sale’s firm rates. Cow and heifer beef was in very keen demand, and sold under keen competition at values well in advance of last sale. A good entry of boner cows showed no alteration on late values, pairies: A good entry of dairy cows and heifers was penned: good-quality close-up heifers met with spirited competition, selling at values ruling at the central sale yards. Prime medium, fat bullocks made £23 10s to £24 ss, light £2l 15s to £23, medium prime fat heifers £lB 15s to £l9 2s Gd, light £l4 6s to £l6 ss, heavy fat Jersey cows £l2 to £l3 Is, fat Jersey and Shorthorn cows £8 15s to £9 2s 6d, heavy boner cows £7 5s to £8 10s_, lighter £5 10s to £6 10s, light £3 10s to £5, good-quality twoyear empty heifers £6 5s to £7 10s others £4 10s to £6. Dairies: Choice two-year Jersey heifers close to profit £2O 10s to £22 10s, medium-quality heifers £lB to £l9 10s, others £l6 to £l7 10s, backward two-year heifers £l3 10s to £l5, small and backward heifers £ll to £l2 10s.

Pigs: A medium entry of all classes was penned; values for fat pigs maintained recent quotations, and stores sold readily at slightly advanced rates. Choppers made £6/4s to £9, heavy prime baconers £6' 14s to £6 19s, medium £6 5s to £6 12s, light £5 14s to £6 3s, heavy porkers £4 15s to £5 7s, medium £4 2s to £4 12s, large stores £3 5s to £4 Is, medium £2 16s to £33s, slips £2 10s to £2 15s, weaners £1 15s to £2 14s.

MORRINSVILLE STOCK SALE

At the Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company Limited weekly stock sale held at Morrinsville on Friday, an average entry of fat sheep sold at prices in advance of recent sales. A good entry of hoggets from Hawke’s Bay was in strong demand and prices showed a sharp rise on late sales. Fat cow r s were penned in smaller numbers while store and boner cows were offered in good numbers. The demand was steady and values remained firm. Yearling Jersey heifers were again in good demand and sold at firm values. There was a medium entry of dairy heifers, values being on a par with, recent sales. A medium yarding of both fat and store pigs was penned, baconers and porkers selling fully up to new schedule rates. The demand for store and weaners was very keen, prices showing a slight rise on last week’s values.

Sheep: Fat woolly wethers 70s to 80s, fat shorn wethers to 50s, fat woolly hoggets 50s to 575, light 42s to 475, fat shorn hoggets 39s to 425, fat woolly ewes to 435, good store wether hoggets (shorn) 37s to 39s 7d, medium 33s to 355, smaller 27s to 30s, medium shorn ewe hoggets 36s 9d, small 25s to 27s Bd. Cattle: Light fat young Jersey cows £8 to £9, boner cows £5 10s to £7 12s 6d, stores £4 10s to; £5, 2-year empty Jersey heifers and cows £4 15s to £7, yearling Jersey heifers £9 2s 6d to £9 12s 6d, Jersey/Ayrshire cross heifers £8 17s 6d to £9 7s 6d, smaller Jersey heifer calves £8 to £8 2s Gd, 2-year Jersey bulls £l3 10s to £l6. yearling Jersey bulls £lO 10s to £l5 10s. Dairies: Top quality Jersey heifers c.t.p. £l6 10s to £lB 10s, others £l2 10s, top quality heifers in milk £l3 to £l5 10s, backward pens £lO to £l2 10s, top quality heifers in milk £l6 5s .to £l9, others £lO 10s to £l4, cows in milk £l4 to £l6 10s.
