Girl Blown Over in Gale
Wellington’s worst gale of 1948 reached speeds exceeding 75 miles an hour in gusts one day this week. A girl, aged five years, was blown over by a gust of wind and suffered a fractured collarbone which necessitated her removal to hospital. Doors were blown in in the city area and in Upper Hutt. Weather officials stated that the gale was caused by equinoctial Conditions. What is Golf?
A keen golfer had a charming giri on his right at dinner, and he gave her graphic descriptions of his achievements with the clubs, hardly allowing her to say more than “Really!” During the dessert he remarked apologetically, “I’m afraid I’ve been , monopolising the conversation and talking nothing but golf.? “Oh, never mind,” said the girl. “But tell me, what is golf ?”
