FEDERATED FARMERS

GOVERNMENT ATTACKED The Te Miro branch of Federated Farmers held a lengthy discussion at its last meeting- on the attitude of the Government to primary producers and the following statement was made at the sub-provincial meetingin Cambridge. “This branch views with alarm the continued injustice of the Government against the farmer, land sales legislation, consumer subsidies, pool accounts, stabilisation, exchange parity, etc., and requests a more aggressive attitude on the part of the Federated leaders. In view of the possibility of the introduction of legislation to the effect the right of freehold of crown land, we urge the immediate calling of massed meetings of farmers throughout New Zealand to implement a system of direct action.” It was decided to send copies of this report to all branches in New Zealand, together with suggestions for direct action.
