FIRM MARKET ASSURED

NEW ZEALAND’S EXPORTS TO BRITAIN . NEED FOR MAXIMUM PRODUCTION The need for maximum production inside the sterling area was emphasised by the British Prime Minister, Mr Attlee, in a message which he has sent to the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, on the anniversary of the Aid to Britain conference held in August, 1947. “I wish to send you a warm expression of the appreciation of the Government and people of the United Kingdom for the efforts which have been made to increase the export of food and other agricultural produce from New Zealand to the United Kingdom, and in particular for the achievements of the Aid for Britain Council,” said Mr Attlee. “During the past year the need for maximum production inside the sterling area has been intensified. In the recent primary produce contracts the United Kingdom has ensured to New Zealand for a longer period ahead than ever before in her history a firm market for all the meat and dairy produce that she can sell. I feel confident that New Zealand will make good her intention to expand her production to the utmost.”
