BOOM IN MUSIC

BRITISH FESTIVAL ATTRACTS LARGE AUDIENCES At the end of the 17th and final concert of the London Music Festival at the Harringay Arena, 155,980 people had listened, as many as 18,000 at a time, to such world-famed artists as Menuhin, Cortot and Flagstad, Jose Iturbi, Lily Pons and husband Andre Kostelanetz. In its second year the Festival has attracted much larger audiences than last year when empty seats brought £20,000 loss to the organisers. This year they are satisfied enough to announce immediately that the Festival will be held again in 1949.
