IMPORTANT ELECTION
AUCKLAND ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY TO-MORROW NIGHT’S MEETING IN HAMILTON For the first time the election 01 the Auckland Acclimatisation Society council will be held this year by postal ballot. All license-holders who are members of the society will receive a voting paper with the names of the candidates. Candidates for election will be present at the annual meeting in Hamilton on Thursday night and will answer questions from license holders regarding their policy. Licenseholders will have their voting papers before the meeting and are required to return them within 14 days. Following the annual meeting there will be an ordinary meeting of the council of the society. There are four vacancies on the council,' which includes 12 members. Nominations of the South Aucxland candidates who are standing in opposition to the present council are as follows:—Mr W. S. Germann (Paterangi), Mr C. M. Scott, president of the Hamilton society, who stood for the presidency of the Auckland society in the 1946 election and was beaten by Mr F. E. McKenzie by 221 votes to 191; Mr J. M. McCullough, Mr R. Haworth and Mr W. McCready, who are three members of the Hamilton society executive. Mr McCready is a former councillor. The Hamilton society is giving a cup for the heaviest pheasant shot during the season and another trophy for the longest pheasant from the tip of the tail to the top of the head.
