PRIMARY PRODUCERS
ACTIVITIES OF CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY ADDRESS BY MR A. E. BRYANT An address on the activities of the Primary Producers Co-operative Society was given by Mr A. E. Bryant, a director of the society, at a meeting of farmers at Ohaupo on Monday night. Mr Bryant said the ac counts of the society for the year ended June 30 showed a net profit, after providing for depreciation, of £19,703, against £8226 in the previous year. The society had experienced a record turnover for the year. Stock slaughtered numbered 194,414, an increase of 43,306 over the previous year’s killings. A sum of £13,738 was available for deferred payment and was subject to share capital deduction. During the year, in conjunction with master butchers, the society had operated an associate cooperative known as the Farmers and Butchers’ Co-operative Society, Ltd., for the purpose of wholesaling meat to Auckland butchers. This society had shown a net profit of £llO2 for distribution to its member shareholders. The following committee was elected with the object of furthering the interests of the society in the district:—Messss F. A. Hounsell, R. Chillcott, J. S. Thwaite, V. A. Karl and S. H. Graham. The chairman at the meeting was Mr B. C. O’Connor.
