SILVER WEDDINGS
ENJOYABLE EVENING SPENT A most enjoyable evening was spent at the home of Mr and Mrs W. Dean, of Puahue, on Saturday evening last, where 30 friends arrived unexpectedly to celebrate their silver wedding. The evening was spent in games and music. A toast to the guests of honour was proposed and duly honoured, and a beautifully-iced and decorated cake (made by a guest) was then cut traditionally, and handed around by Mrs McGregor, of Auckland, Mrs Dean’s sister, who was her bridesmaid. After singing Auld Lang Syne, a happy party broke up at midnight.
MR AND MRS A. PEVREAL A very happy evening was spent at Whawharua on Saturday, when about 60 friends of Mr and Mrs A. Pevreal, well known to the members of the Te Awamutu Light Horse Association and other local residents, gathered at their home to join with them in celebrating the occasion of the anniversary of their silver wedding. During the evening, opportunity was taken by Mr P. A. Rasmussen to refer to, the popularity and the many fine qualities of both Mr and Mrs Pevreal. The guests of honour had commenced farming in the Whawharua district 24 years ago and during this time they had entered into the spirit of the activities of the district and had made many friends both in Whawharua and in Otorohanga. On behalf of those present, Mr Rasmussen celled upon Mrs Pevreal to accept a silver entree dish, while Mr Pevreal was presented with a handsome smokers’ stand. Mr Pevreal suitably replied. The singing of “Auld Lang Syne - ’ brought a very happy evening to a close.
