LONG PUBLIC SERVICE

RECOGNITION PLANNED MR S. C. B. MACKY’S 21 YEARS TERM OF OFFICE A largely attended and representative meeting of ratepayers of the 10 .ridings of the Waipa County was held in the Waipa County Council Chambers yesterday, "resided over by Mr J. T. Young. The chairman outlined the objects of the meeting which was to take steps to show some tangible appreciation of the outstanding services rendered by Mr S. C. B. Macky to the district over a lengthy period of years. After many sterling and sincere tributes had been paid'to Mr Macky's services, the following resolution was carried unanimously: “That suitable recognition be made to Mr S. C. B. Macky on the occasion of the anniversary of his twenty-one years sejrvice as chair-

man of the Waipa County Council.” Mrs Macky is to be included in the appreciation to be expressed, for it was recognised that had it not been for her gracious co-operation Mr Macky would not have been able to give that measure of service to the community that he has done. For the purpose of furthering the proposal an executive committee consisting of Messrs J. T. Young, F. J. Rvburn (Mangapiko Riding), R. D. Fisher (Pukeroro Riding), J. J. Karl (Kakepuku Riding), J. D. O’Connell (Hamilton Riding), J. C. Begbie (Newcastle Riding), L. S. Richards (Rangiaowhia Riding), W. A. Akehurst (Kaipaki Riding), H. O. Kay (Orakau Riding), A. M. Mitchell (Tuhikaramea Riding), E. G. Houchen , (Rukuhia Riding). Further members are to be appointed for the Newcastle and Kakepuku Ridings. The chairman of the Ohaupo and Kihikihi Town Boards are to be invited to nominate representatives to serve on the executive. Mr J. T. Young was elected chairman and Mr T. Grant, secretary of the executive. Riding members of the council are to be co-opted as members of the executive. The form the presentation will take and the date and place of the ceremony are to be determined by the executive, who will also attend to the preparation and circulation of lists and other details.

The meeting was marked by great enthusiasm and revealed the depth of sincerity to adequately convey to Mr Mkacky the district’s thanks for his long and valued services.
