OHAUPO ROAD AREA

QUESTION OF LOCAL BODY JURISDICTION MEETING TO BE HELD Since the question of the water supply in the Ohaupo Road area beyond the Te Awamutu borough was raised, considerable discussion and negotiation has been taking place, and at the Waipa County Council meeting on Monday a letter was received conveying the resolution as passed at the last meeting of the Te Awamutu Borough Council as under: “That the Te Awamutu Borough Council is prepared to revert to rating as before • if the consumers concerned uetition to return to the borough. If they do so no objection will be raised by the borough and steps will then be taken immediately to extend the 4in main to the old town boundary.’’ “Have they cut off the water yet?” queried -a councillor. Cr Hall said there had been considerable negotiation with very little real headway to date. Perhaps the better plan now would be for the clerk to have the, authority of the Council ’to hold a meeting of the residents affected so that the proposals could be further investigated. It was left to the appointed subcommittee to take any appropriate action, it being understood that a meeting will be held to consider whether or not merger within the borough will be entertained.
