THE CROQUET CLUB
SOCIAL AFTERNOON Again the leaders of the Te Awamutu Croquet Club have carried the social side of their club into the wider sphere, and a very happy afternoon was spent on Wednesday. As on an earlier occasion, the town ladies met a Frontier Road combination in a five hundred match and a series of well played games resulted. The highest aggregate scores of the afternoon were registered by the honours in a very friendly and convivial way. In fact there was much good-natured rivalry both as the game progressed and in the claim for the honours of the day. Afternoon tea was dispensed and in all a very happy time was enjoyed by all. The teams comprised (town), Mesdames Meredith, Cullen, Ryan, Roberts, McNair, Farrell, Guy, O’Connor, Marsh, McArthur, Tolich, Russell, Hopping, Boryer, Blennerhassett, Woodward. (Frontier Road), Mesdames Jans, Young, Nicholson, Gray, Houghton, Wyllie, Rowan, Tims, Clark, Cutforth, Roberts, Wing Harvev, and Brownlie. I Competition winners were: Mes- ! dames Hopping, Marsh, McArthur, 1 Nicholson, Jans and Wyllie.
