AWARDED THE D.F.C.

KAWHIA AIRMAN As briefly announced in the Courier last week, Flight Lieutenant G. C. Hitchcock, a son of Mr and Mrs W. J. Hitchcock, Kawhia, has been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. No citation has yet been issued covering the award. Educated at the Te Kuiti District High School, the Mt. Albert Grammar and Auckland Teachers’ Training College, he left for overseas at the age of 18, after training in New Zealand. He was for three years in the Pacific flying Catalinas, while during the last year he had headquarters in England and was flying Lancasters.
