ROAD SERVICE
NEW PLYMOUTH TO HAMILTOIfj FOR USE OF INTERMEDIARY PASSENGERS The reinstatement of the road service between New Plymouth and Hamilton, preferably on alternate days, was requested at a sitting of the No. 2 Transport Licensing Authority, Mr P. O. Skoglund. Mr Skoglund indicated that he would be willing to grant the resumption of the service provided the oil fuel and rubber controllers agreed. The service is intended mainly for intermediary passengers and businessmen. During the last two to two and ahalf years he had received numerous complaints about the New Plymouth to Auckland service, said Inspector S. Hanna, of the Transport Department, who is stationed at Te Kuiti. People from intermediary places on the route had not been able to book in advance or join the bus because it was already fully loaded. Passengers were not ‘getting the service they desired and the only remedy he could suggest was that the service be increased and another vehicle be placed on the route as far as Te Kuiti, and preferably to Hamilton.
