WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

KIHIKIHI FUNCTION The Kihikihi Town Hall was looking very gay with foliage and spring flowers when the local Women’s Institute held their birthday evening recently. Among the visitors were the Federation President, Mrs Angus, Dominion voluntary organiser, Mrs Chapman, Hamilton, and also members of sister institutes and other organisations. The programme opened with a pianoforte duet by the Misses Vincent. This was followed by a vocal duet by the Misses Harvey, Mrs Ramsay sang several songs in her usual pleasing manner. Mr Vincent favoured with a violin solo. Master M. Haines gave an elocutionary item which was followed by a sketch “Too Clever,” by Mesdames Eyre and Haines. A quartette comprising Mesdames Warren and Betts and Mr Robinson and Rev. Warren was much appreciated. The accompanists were Mesdames Vincent, Hankins and Rolfe. A buffet supper was served in the supper room which was gaily decorated with daffodils and streamers in institute colours of green and gold. A beautiful birthday cake had been made by Mrs Raine and iced by Mrs Vincent. Dancing followed, the music being supplied by Mrs Henderson.
