FOR THE OCCASION

KIHIKIHI DIAMOND JUBILEE POEM BY ANN ALLAN The following poem, written specially for the occasion by Ann Allan (Mrs W. T. Brabyn) was read by the Rev. W. T. Brabyn at the social and concert in Kihikihi Town Hail on Saturday evening:— To-night we’re here to celebrate The Diamond Jubilee Of Kihikihi’s Presbyterian Church So dear to you and me. It stands just at the corner; Its workmanship is good. To some it’s just a building Made of concrete and of wood. But to those whose eyes see further, Whose minds are higher trained, There is a hidden beauty A lesson to be gained. ’Tis built on sure foundations— A people’s faith in God; And on smooth floors, throughout the years, The Worshippers have trod. ’Tis welded fast together, And strengthened with love’s cord While over all who enter there Is God’s Almighty Word. Tis lit with wondrous beauty, For its light streams from above And mingles with the prayer and praise: The light of God’s own Love. So with the past and present; Those here, those gone from sight, Who’ve worshipped in the .little Church . We offer thanks to-night. And pray that God will bless us In the future as in the past; Our lives, our Lord may glorify As long as life shall last. Then at another Banquet When He calls us home above We’ll worship and adore Him At the Lamb’s great Feast of Love !
