“That we wholeheartedly support the Government in its policy of natioinalisation of the Bank of New Zealand,” was a resolution passed by the Hamilton branch of the Amalgamated Engineering, Coachbuilding and Related Trades Industrial Union of Workers. “We feel,” the resolution added, “that the time has arrived when the banking system must, in the interests of the people, be taken out of the hands of private enterprise and controlled by the Government elected by the people.”
Croquet Club Function The following ladies were present at the social afternoon held under the auspices of the Te Awamutu Croquet Club: Mesdames Webber, S. Clark, Marsh, Jukes, Evans, Young (Auckland), J. Young, Meredith, Ryan, Houghton, M. E. Roberts, Woodward, O’Brien, Irwin, L. Nicholson, Chunn, Paul, Cullen, Brown, Mensforth, Munro, Grant, Boryer, Hopping, Blackburn, Russell, Blennerhassett. Competition winners were Mesdames Ryan, Meredith and Paul.
