FRANKTON SALE At Frankton sale yesterday a full yarding of ox beef met a steady demand with values slightly easier than last week. Comeptition was not so free on a medium entry of cow and heifer beef, and values showed a decided easing on recent quotations. A small yarding of veal was keenly sought and values rose. A full yarding of wethers came forward while ewes showed a sharp advance. Spring lambs were yarded in larger numbers and sold at late rates. Store hoggets were offered in medium numbers and late rates were maintained. An increased offering of all classes of pigs came forward. Competition throughout was very steady, prices improving on last week’s values. Quotations:

PUTARURU SALE Newton King Ltd. report that at their Putaruru stock sale and grade full fair held on Monday last, a large yarding of all classes of stock came forward to meet with strong competition—a total clearance being effected at values well up to recent rates. Sheep: An offering of some 400 fat sheep sold freely as follows: Shorn fat wethers 27s to 27s 4d, lighter 24s to 25s 9d, woolly fat ewes to 23s 3d, shorn fat ewes . 15s 6d to 16s 6d, fat woolly hoggets 26s 3d to 27s 3d, lighter 23s to 24s 9d. Cattle: Fat Jersey cows £7 to £7 10s, lighter £6 6s to £6 18s, meaty cows £5 to £5 15s, stores £3 10s to £4 18s, 2-year steers £6 10s to £7, yearling Jersey heifers £6 to £7. A large yarding of service bulls was cleared at satisfactory realisations, 2-year pedigree Jerseys bulls selling from 15gns to 21gns. Pedigree Ayrshire bulls realised from 12 gns to 15gns. Grade two-year Jersey bulls sold to £ll 10s, with others £6 10s to £9 10s, grade yearling Jersey bulls realising from £7 to £lO ss. A medium offering of dairy heifers sold to £l4 ss, other forward cattle £ll IGs to £l2 ss, more backward £9 to £lO. Pigs: A full yarding of fat and store pigs met strong competition, heavy baconers selling to £5 Ils, others £5 to £5 Bs, lighter £4 5s to £4 18s, porkers £3 15s to £3 19s, others £3 10s to £3 12s, stores £2 10s to £3, slips 28s to 355.
