KORAKONUI SPORTS

Korakonui held their first annual sports meeting under ideal conditions the weather being- all that could be desired and the site on Mr L. Kay’s property lending itself admirably to the occasion. The success of the day is due to the committee and willing band of helpers to whom many thanks are due. Mrs White did splendid work as assistant secretary, and Mr White made an excellent announcer.

The stalls were in the capable hands of the following ladies:—Tea, Mesdames Lethbridge, Nickle and Miss Gage; produce, soft drinks, ice cream, etc-, Mesdames W. Campbell. E. Cooper and Miss E. Lawry; raffles, Mesdames S. Campbell and Orr. The horse events were capably run by Messrs L. Kay and Bishop, the judges for these events being Messrs ft. Henderson and M. Dean. Messrs M. Tuck, G. Gower and D. Christie had a busy time with the children’s races and young men’s foot events, while Mr S. Campbell did good work arranging the ladies side of the sports. Mr W. Whitfield was responsible for the ladies’ nail driving contest. Messrs Keith Nickle and D. Woolston arranged the chopping competitions. The following are thanked for their donations: Mesdames Campbell, Nickle, Orr, Lethbridge, Messrs S. Campbell, M. Dean and J. Jamieson, senr. The Korakonui Soldiers’ Welfare Society will benefit to the extent of £56. The following were the winners in the various contests:—
