PUKEATUA NOTES

SCHOOL MATTERS At a meeting of householders Mr M. Rumbles presided over a rather small attendance. The report of the late committee was held. The roll of scholars is still low at 24. Mr S. G. Taylor, who was appointed to the- school on the resignation oi Miss Gunn, is still with the forces, the war vacancy having been filled by Miss P. L. Campbell, who has now served the school for a year. A large section of the grounds that was once a waste has been turned into a native plantation in which already 40 varieties of our native plants are firmly established. The following committee was appointed for the ensuing biennial period: Mr M. Rumbles, chairman, Mr A. Graff, secretary and treasurer, and Messrs B. O’Halloran, B. Rumbles and W. Glass.
