GENERAL ELECTION
CANDIDATES FOR WAIKATO It is announced that Mr G. G. Burke, of Putaruru, has been chosen to contest the Waikato seat in the Democratic Labour Party's interests. Mr Burke has been an executive member of timber workers’ and other unions. His nomination makes four candidates for the seat. Mr Burke visited Te Awamutu yesterday. Warrant-Officer J. C. Nesfield is to represent the Democratic Labour Party in the contest for the Waitomo seat held by Mr. W. J. Broadfoot (National). Warrant-Officer Nesfield went overseas with the First Echelon and served abroad for three years. He is now on the staff of a military camp in New Zealand. He is a married man with three children. COMING MEETINGS Leading-Aircraftman Waters, official Labour candidate for Waitomo, will address a public meeting at the Kihikihi Hall to-night. Mr W. J. Broadfoot, M.P., will speak to-morrow at Honikiwi at 2 p.m., and at Te Kawa at 8 p.m. Mr Charles Croall, the official Labour Party candidate for Waikato, will speak at the Mangapiko Hall to-mor-row afternoon. Mr Arthur Osborne, Under-Secre-tary to the Minister of Defence, will address a public meeting at Kihikihi Hall on Tuesday next at 8 p.m.
