ROLL OF HONOUR
NAMES OF DISTRICT MEN Advice has been received by Mr and Mrs A. C. Newland, of Te Pahu, Waikato, that their youngest son, Flight-Sergeant Kenneth Mitchell Newland, has been killed on active service. Sergeant Newland was born at Thames 21 years ago. He joined the Royal New Zealand Air Force in 1939 and was trained as an air gunner in Canada. Sergeant Newland had extensive operational experience with the Bomber Command in raids over enemy territory.
Word that their son, Gunner John Edgar Froggatt, had been wounded has been received by Mr and Mrs E. J. Froggatt, of Korakonui. Gunner Froggatt left New Zealand with the. fourth reinforcements and has seen much service in the Middle East, being previously wounded. Prior to enlisting he followed farming pursuits in the district- A brother; Private Alex Froggatt, is also serving in the Middle East. The wounded list also contains the names of Private W. A. Thornton, whose mother, Mrs J. Madsen, lives at Te Pahu, and Private Wilfred Owen Morron, son of Mr and Mrs J. Morron, of Parawera Road, Te Awamutu. Private Morron left with the Second Echelon and was serving in the Middle East.
