DIET: “AND FIVE PER CENT WERE WISE”
Sir, —No more vexed question exist than modern notions on diet with its varied intricacies. In every community a section of the populace is ever alert to learn the latest fads. With no less than three neatly worded “advertisements” -in your paper to stimulate attention a representative—even if meagre part of our townspeople gathered at the Town Hall last night to sit at the feet of Gamaliel. In its chilly precincts they strutted to and fro until good old Dudley (always on deck) advised that the annexe had not been booked. Alas! Where is the meeting. A general check up on all our halls proved how well we had been spooted and no lecturer eventuated. Now we’ve no new ideas of fads to fight, no less indigestion, not even a decent scrap at the Monday meeting of the parish. Even though we hope you get paid for the advertisements. We are FED UP.
