LIST OF WORLD’S RECORDS TWO FOR NEW ZEALAND r Oldest standing world record as recognised by the International Amateur Athletic Federation, is that set up by a British walking champion, G. E. Larner, in covering .two miles at London in 13 min. 11 2-5 sec. thirty-nine years ago. Two records made in New Zealand have places in the official list now to hand after years of waiting. Most of the accepted record-break-ing feats have been accomplished in the past eight years, but there are two long-standing performances which remain unshaken—J. A. ■Gibson’s 440 yards hurdles in 54 :s?ssec and Paavo Nurmi’s ten miles in 50min 15sec. These have stood on the books since 1927 and 1928 respectively-
