WEDDING BELLS
WEBBER—PEPPERELL At Edgecumbe, Bay of Plenty, on 15th September, a wedding’ of local interest took place. The ceremony was performed in the Church of England by Rev. Mr Coulton and Mrs J. Goodwin officiated at the organ. The bridegroom was Maurice E. Webber, only son of Mr and Mrs H. J. Webber, of Paterangi Road, Te Awamutu, and he was married to Joyce Lillian, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs J. E. Pepperell, of Edgecumbe. As she entered the church, accompanied by her father, the bride made a regal picture. She wore a gown of ivory silk taffeta fashioned on tailored lines. The bodice was ruched from a heartshaped neckline and formed a full basque, edged with accordion pleating. It was finished with a row of tiny buttons. The skirt fell in graceful folds to form a long oval train edged with accordion pleating to correspond with the neck line and sleeves. A long embroidered silk tulle veil, which was worn over the face on entering the church, fell from a double halo of orange blossom. She carried a sheaf of lilies tied with satin
Mrs E. Hudson, of Kaponga, the bride’s sister, attended as matron of
honour. She wore a pastel green silk taffeta gown with ruched bodice and sleeves and a heartshaped neckline.
The very full sicirt had a row of tiny buttons from waist to hem. A waistlength veil of green tulle fell from a topknot of golden orchids and she
carried a shower bouquet of golden •reesias, lachenalias and maidenhair fern. She wore a gold locket and chain, a gift from the bridegroom. The best man was Mr Tom W. Ray, of Pokuru, and the ushers were Messrs F. Pepperell and Weir, of Edgecumbe: About sixty guests, including visi-
tors from Kaponga, Hawera, Auckland, Te Aroha, Te Awamutu and Whakatane, wore present at the reception at the Edgecumbe hotel. Telegrams were received from friends in the North and South Islands and cables from overseas. Mrs Pepperell
received the guests wearing a grey embroidered model frock with black hat and accessories. Her bouquet was of mauve shaded anemones and maidenhair fern. She was assisted by Mrs Webber, who wore a black ensemble relieved with white, a black and white hat and black accessories. She carried a bouquet of scarlet anemones and
maidenhair fern. When Mr and Mrs M. E. Webber left for their honeymoon the bride wore a model mulberry frock, a fur coat, black hat and black accessories. They will make their home at Otorohanga.
