THE TE AWAMUTU CLUB MATCHES AT EASTER Progressive pairs was the order of the day on the local green. In all 20 members attended on Saturday morning, despite the threatening weather, and, during the day, some very keen contests were witnessed. The winning skip of the day was J. Donaldson, with five wins to his credit. H. C. Rainey and N. Austin tied in the leads with four wins each. To decide the winner three heads were played, which resulted in a win for Rainey, the score being 2 to 1. Easter Monday saw 24 players on the rinks. The going was very heavy for a start but was quite keen during the afternoon. The games were evenly contested. Mr Cole and Mr Old tied in the skips with four wins each. In the play-off Cole beat Old by 3 to nil. Mr S. Empson was the winner in the leads, winning four and a half games. Three teams visited Cambridge, being skipped by Noonan, Burchell and Borich, the latter two qualifying for section playing. Gee’s team secured five wins at Auckland, just failing to qualify.
