“ The greatest role for Britain and the British Commonwealth will prove to be the utilisation of the organisation and experience it has acquired to aid the transition from historic imperialism to a great and really free commonwealth of nations where all people can dwell and make progress without fear of domination, aggression, and war.

to Nazi domination, for its appetite for blood, death, and destruction is insatiable.
“ If we are to have peace we must accept collective responsibility for its maintenance, for it is clear people cannot buy their safety. None of the old devices will secure peace for the future generations. It must be fought for and won now, and then put upon such a firm foundation that no one will dare to challenge the power of the free peoples.”—Mr Ernest Bevin, British Minister of Labour, in a recent speech.
