NO LATE NIGHT

POSITION AT AUCKLAND EARLIER OPENING In the interests of public safety and convenience, local authorities in the Auckland E.P.S. area have been authorised to fix the earlier closing time of 6 p.m. to be observed by shops in respect of the late night, announced the Minister of National Service, the Hon. R. Semple, on Friday night. The authority will apply only to shops for which the ordinary closing time, except on the late night or half holiday, is now 5.30 p.m. or earlier, and there shall be no alteration in the closing hours of such shops on other days of the week. An assurance has been given that in order to make good the hours lost on the late night, the employees affected are prepared to commence at 8.30 a.m, each morning of the week.
