KILLED IN ACTION SECOND-LIEUT. A. J. EDWARDS Friends in Hamilton have received advice that Second-Lieutenant Alfred James Edwards, of Putaruru, has been killed in action with the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force. Second-Lieutenant Edwards was born in England 26 years ago and came to the Dominion in 1936 to learn farming. He had been employed as a sharemilker in the Putaruru district prior to enlisting and went overseas with the Second Echelon. His father was killed in the Great War, 1914-18, while serving with an English regiment. PRISONERS OF WAR CORPORAL H. TAITUUA A letter has been received from Corporal H. Taituha, of Otewa, and formerly of Te Kuiti, who is in a prison camp at Wilhelmshaven, Germany. He was shot in the mouth and is making good recovery in hospital.
