SOLDIERS’ PARCELS
LETTERS OF ACKNOWLEDGMENT APPRECIATION EXPRESSED Mr and Mrs V. W. Simms, of Otewa, Otorohanga, have received a letter from their son, Captain Alan Simms, with regard to the patriotic parcels sent from the Dominion. He received a parcel from the Opawa school, Canterbury, on Christmas afternoon, taken in the Desert with his men, and expresses his great appreciation of the gift. . Captuain Simms says: “ It’s really great to get these parcels, and I would like you to tell the ladies of the Patriotic Committee how much they are appreciated by all of us.” THANKS OF MAORI SOLDIER Private Mitai Simmonds, in the course of a letter to the Otorohanga Patriotic Committee, says: “My Very Dear People,—l am hoping that you thoughtful people wouldn’t get too big of a surprise by hearing from me, but I must sincerely take this opportunity of thanking you one and all for the lovely parcel I have received. Thank you ever so much. I am one of the many lucky boys who have been given one of your parcels, and believe me that it was one of the most pleasant surprises I have experienced, and while I was opening my parcel I couldn’t help but think of our most loving people, both Maori and Pakeha, back there in good old New Zealand, who have been forever in our thoughts, and although we are so very far away we have been receiving gifts continuously. All the boys I am with were each given a surprise parcel, and we one and all thank you. ■ May God bless you always.”
