A by-election will be necessary for the Hauraki seat, the National nominee, Mr A. S. Sutherland, of Ngaruawahia, having as his opponent Mr H. T. Head, of Parnell, who contested the recent by-election for Waitemata, which was won by Mrs M. M. Dreaver, the Labour candidate.
