WEDDING BELLS

FARRELL—SILVESTER The wedding took nlace on Saturday last at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Te Awamutu, of Joan Marjory, fourth daughter of Mr and Mrs G. Silvester, of Paterangi, and Eric James Gordon, only son of Mr and Mrs G. Farrell, late of Kaipaki, and now of Kihikihi Road. The Church had been beautifully decorated in pink and blue and the ceremony was performed by the Rev. D. Mclntyre, of Paterangi. The bride, who presented a charming picture as she entered the Church, escorted by her father, to the strains of the Wedding March played by Mrs F. Gibson, was gowned in powder blue marocain with a pleated bustle skirt and white Paris trimmings. She wore black accessories and a beautiful necklet sent to her from het brother, Gunner Harold Silvester, who is serving in Egypt. She carried a bouquet of pink dahlias, blue hydrangeas and maidenhair fern. Miss Ina Farrell (sister of the bridegroom) attended as bridesmaid. She wore a dainty frock of pink floral crepe sheer, a model navy hat and accessories in the same shade. Her bouquet was of pink roses, blue ceonothus and maidenhair fern. The bridegroom was attended by Mr Bruce Ganley, of Kaipaki, as best man and the usher at the Church was Mr Fred Clark, of Mangapiko, a cousin of the bridegroom. After the ceremony a recherche breakfast was provided by Mr S. Thompson, of the Regent Lounge. Mrs Silvester received her guests wearing a frock of rich floral cyclamen with navy accessories and a fur stole. She carried a bouquet of abutilons, and roses to tone. She was assisted by Mrs Farrell, who wore a navy costume relieved with white and navy accessories. Her bouquet was of charm dahlias and marigolds. When the bride and groom left on their honeymoon, the bride travelled in a blue frock with black accessories and furs. The happy couple will make their home in Te Awamutu. STEER—GRESHAM

A marriage of local interest was solemnised at St. Aiden’s Church, Remuera, on Saturday, December 27 when Moyra Gresham, third daughter of Mr and Mrs Hugh Gresham, of Rotorua, was united in the bonds of holy matrimony to Second Lieutenant Derek Harry Steer, elder son of Mr and Mrs H. Steer, of Te Awamutu. The ceremony was performed by Canon Connolly. The bride, who was given away by her father, chose a grey ensemble with hat to tone and carried a sheaf of pink and cyclamen carnations and blue hydrangeas. She was attended by Mrs Neville Harrison, as matron-of-honour. Mr Neville Harrison carried out the duties of best man. A reception, at which only near relatives were present, was held at the home of Mr and Mrs Harrison, Orakei Road, Remuera.
