AID TO RUSSIA
SUNDAY NIGHT’S MEETING. (Contributed.) On being questioned about Sunday night’s meeting on the “ Aid to Russia ” question, a member of the executive committee provided some in teresting information. The subject is one which merits the fullest co-opera-tion of all sections of the community, and this is emphasised by the fact that the speakers are representative of all sections. The coffimittee has been particularly fortunate in securing the able assistance of Rev. Chandler, whose, inspiring addresses are known throughout the Waikato.
Owing to the many demands made upon the speakers, and bearing in mind the fact that Messrs Airey, Wilcox, and Watson are voluntarily travelling from Auckland, it was decided to depart from the usual practice and hold a Sunday evening meeting rather than disappoint the public. The people of Te Awamutu and surrounding districts have rallied to the common cause with their usual enthusiasm, and th'e Committee wishes to express its appreciation of tlje support given in the display of posters in the town and outlying districts. It is a source of great gratification to the committee that Te Awamutu has displayed an unbiased viewpoint in regard to this meeting— a. view that some of the larger centres would do well to emulate.
In ’ securing the above-mentioned talented speakers, the coffimittee had of necessity to arrange the meeting in accord with these gentlemen’s convenience. To do this there was no alternative other than to hold the meeting on a Sunday evening. Further information discloses the fact that owing to unforeseen circumstances Mr H. Atmore, M.P., will be unable to be present.
