HOME GUARD

RUMOURED CHANGE IN COMMAND. Persistent rumours were current in Te Awamutu last week that Lieut.Colonel J. G. Wynyard had resigned his position as Battalion Commander. In reply to an enquiry by a Courier representative this morning, Colonel Wynyard stated he had not resigned and knew of no reason why he should do so. Further rumours are now current, both in Hamilton and Te Awamutu that owing to the fact that Colonel Wynyard and Major Ansell have not seen active scervice these gentlemen are to be deprived of their respective positions of Battalion Commander and Second in Command. Colonel Wynyard informs us that apart from the rumours he has not been advised to this effect.
