PROVISION FOR WAR PENSIONS. HOME DEFENCE UNITS RECOGNISED. It may not be generally known that men and women serving in the Home Service Units rank with members of the Territorial Forces in the provision made for pensions. This information is, however, given in a pamphlet on home defence issued by the Prime Minister relating to Home Guard, Emergency Precautions and Women’s War Service Auxiliary organisations. Any member who suffers any disablement directly attributable to his service in the Home Guard, the Women’s War Service Auxiliary, or any Emergency Precautions Scheme organisation, he says, may qualify for pension and allowance for himself and his dependants on the same basis and at the same rate as provided for members of the Territorial Forces The dependants may also be eligible for pension where the member’s death is caused by his duties in connection with his service with any branch of the Emergency Reserve Corps. ■ The question of granting these pensions is determined by the War Pensions Board, and applications therefor should be undressed to the Secretary for War Femicns, care of the Social Security Department.
