PUKEATUA RABBIT BOARD
EFFECTIVE SERVICE ACKNOWLEDGED. A meeting of the Pukeatua Rabbit Board was held on Thursday, Mr E. H. Rhodes presiding. There were also present Messrs E. H. Houston, R. A. Anderson, L. S. Richards, together with the secretary, J. G. Wynyard. An apology was received from Mr Jepson. The chairman reported that he had, in company with the Inspector, made an inspection of the area and had failed to see one rabbit. He stated that the territory under the board’s jurisdiction is in a very satisfactory condition.
Several ratepayers had called on him quite recently and expressed their complete satisfaction with the progress that had been achieved, since the board had been formed. In fact they had expressed the opinion that the progress of exterminating the rabbit pest has exceeded their expectations.
On the question of finance the chairman stated that the finances of the Board were in a very satisfactory position, as shown by return up to March 31st. He was sure it would be generally appreciated that it would be possible to reduce the rate by one halfpenny for the ensuing year. The Board congratulated the secretary on the satisfactory financial position of the figures presented.
Each member consented to offer his services for a further term of office, feeling that the job they were doing was really worth while, and their policy should be continued.
