RED CROSS SOCIETY

PARAWERA BRANCH. The Parawera branch held its monthly bring-and-buy afternoon at the residence of Mrs H. O. Kay on Friday last. The table was laden with good things and excellent business was done. A visit was paid from the president of the Te Awamutu Red Cross, Mrs Downes, who addressed the meeting. Mrs Jeffery and Mrs Nobes also gave interesting details of the Sewing and Knitting Circles. Other visitors from Te Awamutu were Mrs Dunn, Mrs Hutchinson and Mrs S. Houston. The sponge cake competition was won by Mrs Godfree and the sewn article by Mrs Wellington. Another interesting competition was won by Miss C. Montefiore.

Mrs Dunn kindly officiated at the piano for the community singing. Afternoon tea brought a very pleasant afternoon to a close.

The next bring-and-buy, to be held on June 6, will be at the residence of Mrs Fitzpatrick.
