“You chaps in Te Awamutu do not know what a cold winter is really like,” writes a Te Awamutu air trainee who is undergoing further training near Montreal, Canada. “ When passing through Winnipeg on 24th January' Old Man Winter struck with a vengeance, and delivered the coldest wave of the present winter, when 41.2 degrees below zero were registered.” To substantiate his statement the writer enclosed the front page of the Winnipeg Free Press, which vividly- describes the havoc created when winter really snarls and snaps in Canada.
