SUBVERSION CASE

OSTLER AND CHRISTIE. APPEAL NEXT MONDAY. The appeal will be heard next Monday of Harold Alexander Ostler and Travers Burnell Christopher Christie, who were sentenced at Christchurch last month to twelve months’ imprisonment on charges of attempting to publish a subversive statement. The fixture was among those made by the Court of Appeal on Monday. The Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers, said the registrar had had letters from Ostler and Christie stating that they wished to have a fixture for argument of their appeals. He said every facility should be given to enable them to present their cases to the Court. Mr H. Taylor, for the Crown, said he understood arrangements had been made to enable them to come to Wellington to argue their cases.
