CLAY BIRD SHOOTING
TOURNAMENT AT OTOROHANGA Quite a number of members of the Waipa Gun Club accepted an invitation to attend the clay-bird shoot arranged last week-end under the auspices of the Legion of Frontiersmen at Otorohanga. Results of the events i were as follow: Eye-opener, 5 birds (24 entries): i The following shot the possible and divided the stake: M. Pratt, E. Green (Mata in ata), E. Benton, R. Brinkworth (Matamata), Horne (Mataiuata), A. Wheeler (Te Kuiti), C. Ben-, ton, Bert Fraser (Te Kuiti), M. Boswell (Te Kuiti). First trophy shoot, 10 birds (23 entries): Possibles were shot by E. Green, J. Casey (Te Awamutu), C. Benton, J. O’Halloran (Te Kuiti), and M. Boswell. In the shoot-off Green won from Benton on the thirtieth bird, and O’Halloran took third trophy on the nineteenth round. Second trophy shoot, 10 birds (26 entries): Possibles: I. Kosoof (Matamiata), E. Benton, J. Pollard (Te Awamutu), J. Wiske, Allan Fraser (Te Kuiti), M. Pratt, L. Marsh (Te Awamutu). Shoot-off: K. Benton 1, J. (Wiske 2, Allan Fraser 3. £5 handicap, 15 birds (25 entries): Possibles: I. Kosoof, E. Benton, J. Wiske, D. Mitchell (Ohaupo) divided the stake. Third trophy shoot, 10 birds (24 entries): E. Green and J. Edwards shot the possible, and Edwards won' in the shoot-off. Those with nine birds shot off for third place, and this was won by W. Parish (Te Awamutu) on the seventeenth bird. Gimcrack, 7 birds, back 2 yards a break (17 entrigs): C. Benton won with the possible. Three others broke six birds. Box shoot, 26 birds (11 entries): M.
Pratt, C. Bqnton, and D. Mitchell divided.
Legion shoot, 5 birds (13 entries): T. McCready shooting for W. Anderson won the possible off 17 yards. The following broke four birds: B. Voss, W. Read, O’Halloran, Boswell, L. Harford, and T. McCready.
