AMERICAN WOMEN
LINKS WITH THE PAST. The Daughters of the Revolution is an association of American women who can claim that they had at least one ancestor who fought against the British in the Revolutionary War : n the eighteenth century. Admittance to this association is highly esteemed and closely guarded to preent the enrolment of any but accredited descendants of the soldiers the war. An American paper calls attention to the extraordinary fact that among the 145,000 “daughters” there are two who are actually laughters of men who served in the war of 1775-81. One is Mrs Annie Gregory, who is 97 years of age. '-Ter father, at the age of 10, was aken by his father to camp, and in >rder that the boy might stay there he was formally enlisted as a drummer. This boy lived to a ripe old age, and at 77 he became the father ">f Mrs Gregory. The other ancient “daughter” is Mrs Caroline P. Ran’all, who is 91. Her father as a mere child was employed at the Battle lof Bunkor Hill in 1775 in carrying water to the American wounded. He lived to be 90, and he became the father of Mrs Randall when he was 78 years old.
