POKURU TENNIS CLUB
POPULAR DANCE ASSISTS RED CROSS The popularity of the Pokuru. Tennis Club’s dances was well exemplified last Saturday evening when there was a large attendance of dancers, including representation from Hamilton, Otorohanga, Honikiwi, Te Kawa and all the neighbouring districts. Strange’s Synconators provided excellent music, and Monte Carlo competitions were won by Miss J. Rattray and partner, and Miss J. Smart and partner. During the evening opportunity was taken by Mr C. S. Alexander, chairman of the Pokuru School Committee, to make presentations to Mrs T. E. Turner and Mr S. H. West, two members of the committee who have not this year sought re-election, but who for years had rendered excellent service to the community. The presentations were made on behalf of the appreciative settlers. ' Dancing was resumed until about midnight, and as a result the Red Cross funds will benefit to the extent of £5 3s.
