A farmer for (whose judgment I hold considerable (respect has just completed his hay-making, writes a southern commentator on farming topics. Every ton of hay made was salted, even though the whole was got in under ideal weather conditions and hence no concern was felt at dampness. The salt dressing was at the rate of two sacks to a 15-ton stack; equivalent to 1511 b a ton. The cost is about 1/6 a ton of hay. Salting is worth while, not alone as a safeguard against dampness; it adds palataibility and feeding value to hay.
