DRUIDS' INSTALLATION. The installation of officers of the United Ancient Order of Druids for the ensuing year was held in the Friendly Societies' Hall, Otorohanga, when the District President, Bro. J. Corbett, performed the ceremonial. Visitors from fraternal lodges in other centres were in attendance, and an enjoyable evening resulted. Officers were installed as follows: Arch Druid, Bro. G. Hyde; Vice-Arch Druid, Bro. H. Murphy; Inner Guardian, Bro. Antonovitch; Outside Guardian, Bro. Waikairi; A.D.B's., Bros Cowley and Meredith; Vice A.D.B.’s, Bros. J. M. Quin and W. Cowley; secretary, Bro. Crossley; M.C., Bro. Thomas McCready; auditor, Bro. B. Addison. This lodge is not a very strong one but is steadily increasing in membership. Following the installation ceremonies a happy evening was spent by some 70 children, who were entertained by the Druids at a Christmas tree party. Santa Claus was in evidence and distributed many presents, ice creams, etc., to the wildly happy youngsters. RED CROSS SOCIETY. The following members of the Otorohanga branch of the Red Cross Society have passed the first aid examination: V. L. Tong, M. G. Baxter, N. Luxmore, V. E. Mexted, D. Patterson, J. I. Rae, J. P. Saunders, L. Sheahan, N. W. Rae, B L. Shaw, M. W. Sanders, B. Matthews, J. B. Millward and S. M. Holmes. Mr W. J. Broadfoot, M.P. for Wai torno, has received notification that, in addition to the approval of the purchase of a further three acres of land to be added to the playing area of the local school, the Minister of Education, the Hon, H. G. R. Mason, has approved a grant to provide a concrete area at the school. WORK IN THE COUNTY. Mr Broadfoot has also received a letter from the Minister of Public Works stating that a grant of £l5O on a £3 for £1 subsidy basis would be made to enajble the County Council to metal part of the Te Rau-a-Mauku road and thus provide access to Mr Steele’s property. In connection with State Housing in Otorohanga Mr Broadfoot has been advised by the Director that three units will be built in the town district. HONIKIWI CALF CLUB. .Mr W. J. Broadfoot, M.P. for Waitoino, presented the prizes in connection with the Honikiwi School’s Calf Club, as follows: Dairy class: R.
