Miss Heather Maxwell, of Epsom, Auckland, was the guest of Mrs F. L. Dunn during the week-end.
Mr and Mrs A. F. Walker, of Auckland, revisited Te Awamutu during the week-end, and were the guests of Mrs F. L. Dunn, Sloane Street.
Mrs- D. A. Reesby, Wellington, and her son, Mir F. Reesby, of Inglewood, were week-end visitors to relatives in this district.
The Minister of Finance, the Hon. W. Nash, stated in Wellington on Saturday eyening that it was hoped the Hon. P. Fraser would return from his visit to Great Britain before New Year, or even before Christmas.
Mr and Mrs R. H. G. Connal, and their son Bobbie, plan to leave Te Awamutu to-morrow morning, motoring to Palmerston North, where Mr Connal takes up his new appointment as manager of the Union Bank of Australia.
Yesterday (Sunday) in appreciation of the manner in which she has on several occasions entertained them at her residence in Alexandra Street, the visiting Mon Desir cricket team entertained Mrs A. E. Wilson as their guest at afternoon tea, when the captain, Mr Gothard, on behalf of the club, presented the guest of honour with a handsome case of silver. Mrs Wilson made a graceful acknowledgement of the gift.
Te Rore Shool has lost a very popular and efficient teacher by the departure of Mr E. J. Guest, who, after six and a half years in charge of the school, left on Saturday for military training camp, having been accepted for service overseas. Mr Guest has won the esteem of the whole distrit by his quiet manner and conscientiousness, success as a teacher, and devotion to the improved education of the children under his charge. At a little function on Friday afternoon he was presented with a silver-mounted pipe from the children as a memento of pleasant associations.
